A monarch butterfly, Danaus plexippus, stops on a stalk of Lavender in the urban environment of Millennium Park in Chicago on its annual migration from Canada to the fir forests of Michoacan, Mexico.   The Monarch butterfly is seen throughout much of North America during its migration.  The Monarch's population is being negatively effected by global warming, and habitat encroachment.
