A recently sharpened hatchet and knives lie on the butchering table of the Vilkovo bazaar. After sellers receive a (literal) stamp of approval for their meat, they each must wait for the butcher to chop it into more manageable pieces on his large tree stump that he uses for a chopping block. Meat, the most common being pork, is found in most traditional dishes but is an expensive commodity for many Ukrainians.
